Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has tipped Sadio Mane to go on and win the PFA Player of the year award this season.
After joining the Reds last summer, Mane has established himself as a key player for the club and netted the only goal for his side during their 1-0 win over Crystal Palace during the weekend.
Gerrard is a big fan of the Senegal international and said, “He is my tip for the PFA player of year this season. I thought Liverpool really struggled in the end of December and January last year [without him].
“He’s a very key and important player for Liverpool and for me, he will be in contention for the player of the year this year. I’ve watched him a lot. He’s very unpredictable, he’s got pace, he runs in behind – he’s got the lot.”
The Merseyside club will be aiming to challenge for major silverware this season after underachieving for many years and if they do so, it will be very important for Mane to be on top form.
